Soft Tennis

Soft Tennis

A designated program designed to keep you fit and socially active

Soft Tennis is run by an individual by the name of Keith Humphries. Keith operates and supports soft tennis for men and women that are 50+ and still highly active. Soft tennis is a program that uses motor skills when hitting a ball that is softer and larger than your average tennis ball. Specific rackets are used in soft tennis and are the individual’s responsibility to bring their own.

Lifelong friendships are created when being involved with this activity and competitive natures are sure to appear. The Y support Keith and Soft Tennis and always look forward to seeing new faces each week.

Soft tennis is played on Mondays and Fridays 10:00am-11:30am.

Steady Feet

Steady Feet

Get active at our weekly Steady Feet program.

Steady Feet is a specifically designed exercise program for ages 60+ to take part in a safe, fun and social way.

Steady Feet has been developed for men and women who have health risk factors or pre-existing injuries. The program has been designed by health professionals and is led by specifically trained instructors who can alter the program for participants if required. The program delivers low to moderate intensity workouts incorporating gentle aerobic movements, weight bearing, and resistance exercising stretching.

Steady Feet classes are located at two great locations

  • Meredith Community Centre: Wednesdays at 10:00am - 11:00am
  • Dereel Community Hall: Wednesday at 11:45am - 12:45pm

A doctor’s certificate is to be provided and details given to our Y instructor for injury description and limitations.

The program focuses on delivering safe, low to moderate intensity work-outs incorporating gentle aerobic movements, weight-bearing or resistance exercise and stretching - all of which help improve strength, balance, and self-confidence. It’s also a great way to meet new people, as Rose attests.
