Recreational Gymnastics Programs
Gymnastics is about learning to move, develop skills and self-confidence as well as staying physically active and mentally challenging yourself to try new things.
This all occurs under the guidance of qualified coaches in a socially inclusive, safe environment. Our program is designed to cater for beginners who are looking at participation and activity to those who aspire to the National and even international stage.
EdGym
EdGym is a play based, parent assisted program that further engages children’s physical development as they grow. Enabling them to navigate through a variety of activities that enhance their development in readiness for kindergarten, school or sport.
Our EdGym Program is conducted in our purpose built gymnastics stadium, using equipment designed for this age group as well as using some of the “big kids” equipment.
All children develop at their own pace and there is never any pressure to meet any sort of standards. The benefits come from attempting skills and trying, we aren’t after perfection we just want to see happy and engaged children progressing in their own way. All the children in our EdGym Programs are little superheroes in their own right!
GymSafe
The Y GymSafe program is designed for children 6 to 14 years of age.
Our ten level program involves all apparatus and aims to teach life skills including: confidence, self-esteem, discipline, body awareness, strength and flexibility. This is a great foundation from which the basis of all other sports is formed.
Our levels start at GymSafe 1 and go up to level 10. Your child will be placed into a level based on age and experience, and will be assessed at the end of every term by their coach. Most levels take two terms to complete, but if your child is progressing quickly the option to move a level ahead will be offered. Our GymSafe program is taught in a non-competitive format so each participant has the opportunity to learn and progress at their own pace.
GymSafe stages 1/2 and 3/4 will attend a 1hr class once per week in a co-ed class learning skills on vault, beam, floor, trampoline, parallel bars and rings.
GymSafe stages 5/6 and 7/10 are 90 minute classes held once a week. At these levels, we offer separate boys and girls classes with each focusing on honing their skills on the Olympic format of vault, beam, bars and floor for girls and vault, high bar, parallel bars, rings, floor and pommel for boys.
All GymSafe gymnasts are invited to attend the Club Championships which are run twice throughout the year. Our Senior GymSafe Championships run in June and our Junior and Senior Championships run in December. This is a great opportunity for gymnasts to show family and friends what they have learnt in a recreational competition format. All participants receive a medal and certificate.
GymSafe Allstar
Our Gymsafe Allstars class sets us apart from the rest, due to our unique training structure which does not show gender bias, it is class for everybody.
GymStar

Our GymStar classes run for 3 hours once a week with gymnasts having the option of attending more than one class.
We offer GymStar levels 4-10, teaching skills and routines on all gymnastic apparatuses (girls' classes will also learn all men's apparatus). There will be competitions throughout the year they participants will have the option to attend, as well as an in-house GymStar Championships held in December.
GymStar is the perfect place for experienced gymnasts who do not wish to commit to competitive training times or for intermediate gymnasts wanting to get more out of their gymnastics skills.
